To Get You Through The Weekend: Vinicius Borges

Vb0516081

Vb0516082

The pictures of Terra's new Boy Vinicius Borges did not get a lot of attention this past Monday, but I actually really liked the more artistic approach photographer Márcio Del Nero decided to go with. My favorite pictures from the spread are after the jump. Warning: semi-NSFW.

A Semana: Smoke Ban In Rio, La Bündchen, ANTP, Chanel, Rihanna, And Pride In São Paulo

The city of Rio passed a smoking ban on closed spaces, to be effective starting May 31. The president of the union of hotels, bars, and restaurants of the city, however, claims that the ban is unconstitutional and is already trying to have it revoked. I am thrilled with the news, and not only hope that the mayor can actually make smoking illegal at bars and clubs in Rio, but that the ban eventually takes place in São Paulo as well.

Emanuela de Paula was in Botswana shooting the Pirelli calendar with Peter Beard. Other Brazilians already confirmed for the calendar include Gisele, Raquel, and Isabeli.

La Bündchen was in the country this Wednesday to shoot a new campaign for her line of Ipanema Sandals.

Natasha Poly will be landing in the country for Fashion Rio early next month. She has already been confirmed for Lenny and two other shows.

Brazilian model Marcelle Bittar shot the ad campaign for Armani new men's fragrance Diamonds in Romania opposite actor Josh Hartnett. The commercial for the fragrance will be shot in New York.

This is America'n Next Top Model (spoiler alert).

According to Forbes, Evandro Soldati is the 7th most successful model in the world right now.

Nina Garcia has finally signed on for the fifth season of Project Runway. Now what's happening with MK?

Kaiser Karl took the Chanel resort 2009 collection to the Raleigh in Miami (and put Sebastien in shorts).

Rihanna almost broke another Billboard record yesterday when her new single Take A Bow leaped from #53 to the first spot on the Hot 100 Chart, thanks to 267,000 digital downloads. The record for best leap to #1 still belongs to Maroon 5's Makes Me Wonder, which jumped from 64 to 1 a year ago.

São Paulo Pride is a week away, and the list of the 22 floats which will take over Avenida Paulista has been officially released. This year surprisingly no nightclubs will have a float on the parade. Most floats will either be representing dating sites such as Manhunt or NGOs.

19 international DJs will be landing in the country next week for all the Gay Pride parties. There is no word yet if Chris Cox is actually coming to spin at Megga Fun on May 24 since the club has been shut down for over a week now.

Haven't booked a hotel in São Paulo yet? I suggest Blue Tree Towers Paulista, which is right by MASP. I stayed there last year, and the service and staff was great. If you haven't decided which parties to attend yet, I will do my best to make your life easier by posting a complete list of Pride events early next week.

While we are still talking about a possible gay kiss on TV in Brazil, the California Supreme Court overturned the gay marriage ban, and Ellen announced she'll get married.

Look Who Just Got A Haircut

Henzo Hülle got a new look with shorter hair just in time for the men's shows (and I hear it was suggested by Steven Klein).

A Sneak Peek At Romulo For Junior

The fifth issue of Junior magazine does not hit newstands until Tuesday of next week, but thanks to the editors Made In Brazil has a few exclusive pictures of the spread with coverboy Romulo Arantes.

Santoro In Cannes

Rs051508

Apparently Jim Carrey is not the only on-screen male love interest Rodrigo Santoro will have this year. His character in the Argentine movie Leonera, which opened in Cannes yesterday, also has a bit of a gay twist. The movie revolves around an incarcerated woman struggling to raise her son from prison, and Santoro plays the love interest of the husband she killed. His character also develops a relationship with the woman, played by Martina Gusman. Watch the trailer here.

Leonera is not Rodrigo's only reason for being in Cannes this year. He is also promoting Steven Soderbergh's Che, in which he plays Cuban president Raul Castro.

On more news from Cannes, Fernando Meirelles' Blindness kicked off the festival yesterday to rather mild reviews. Click here for pictures of the premiere (Julianne Moore was looking fabulous as usual).

Dado Dolabella At The Beach (Again)

Actor Dado Dolabella is becoming the international poster boy for Ipanema lately. Thanks to the good weather in Rio and the efficient Brazilian paparazzi, here are pictures of him at the beach yesterday.

I think I should start a weekly column about his leisurely afternoons in Rio. More pictures after the jump.

If The Michael Kors Girls Did Drag...

They would have looked like the models on Monday's Dior resort show, which was pure poolside perfection, and full of Brazilian faces: Daiane, Flavia, Camila, Michelle, and Drielly.

Dior051408

Resort has officially become my favorite season. Perhaps because it is less intense, the collections look more fun, bright, and actually wearable. I mean, had you seen Daiane Conterato looking that slightly cheerful before?

UPDATE: my friend JD Ferguson just sent me some exclusive backstage shots of Drielly, Daiane, Camila, and Flavia.

Jd0514081

Jd0514082

This year for Halloween I may just go as Flavia on the Dior resort show.

The Final Three

After watching David Cook's final performance on American Idol last night, you know he wants to win.

"A chihuahua trying to be a tiger," but even with the freaky stage dad you can't help but to want to vote for Archuleta. I am fairly certain that we will be seeing him on the finals (and that he will win).

The hairstylist finally managed to do something fabulous with Syesha Mercado's hair. Unfortunately, and in spite of a pretty decent performance, I don't think he will get a chance to repeat the look on her again next week.

DOM Magazine Goes Monthly

Dom0514081

And yes, that is model Leandro Okabe in leather pants on the new cover.

The guys at DOM were kind enough to send me an exclusive picture of Leandro from the "Urban Fetish" edit shot by Rogério Mesquita, and a sneek peak at the Cowboy-themed feature shot by Marcelo Bormac.

Dom0514082

Dom0514083

The fourth issue of DOM hits newstands next week, in time for Gay Pride. It also includes a sexy picture portfolio by photographer Paulo Cabral, an interview with Indian prince Manvendra Gohil, and a guide to São Paulo Gay Pride written by my fellow Brazilian bloggers Introspective and Carioca Virtual. More from the issue after the jump.

Cauã Reymond Or Courtney Love?

Cr051408

To celebrate the launch of its new website, Brazilian PR firm OfficeComm had the brilliant idea of shooting some of its most famous clients posing as rock stars. My favorite transformation was actor Cauã Reymond as Courtney Love. He totally pulled it off.

Marc Jacobs Goes Brazilian

And no, I am not talking about him booking Aline Weber for an ad campaign. Thanks to one of my resourceful friends, I had mentioned last week that Mr. Jacobs' date to the Met Gala was Brazilian. It seems that now his new love affair is finally hitting the news.

Mj051308

It is official: Marc is a Brazilianizer. Luckily, he did not pick up this Brazilian from Rentboy.

Surfing With Miro

I am dying to get my hands on the spring issue of DV Man magazine. Not only does it feature an edit with Andre Ziehe, but also a beautiful surf story with Miro Moreira shot by Magnus Magnusson.

A Brazilian On The Cover Of VMan 11?

Vman051308

18-year-old Renan Bonin, who you have seen here before, is currently the model with the most online votes on the VMan Ford Models Model Search 2008. The winner of the contest, however, will not be determined by the number of online votes, but by VMan's editor Stephen Gan. The overall winner will score a Ford modeling contract and the cover of VMan 11. The winner of the popular vote will guarantee a fashion story in the issue.

Brazilian Pablo Dias is also competing for the cover. Head over to vmagazine.com now and cast your vote.

She Can Go On And On And On

Here are two clips from Madonna's BBC performance which I should have totally posted over the weekend.

I am loving the choreography for Give It To Me. Clips via Madonna Online.
